I. Introduction of Photovoltaic Project

Zhuzhou BAIC Phase II Distributed PV Carport Project is the largest “PV + Carport” integration project in Hunan Province, China. The project is located in the park of BAIC Zhuzhou Branch, and is jointly built by Red Sun New Energy and Wuling Electric Power Company, which skillfully combines the rooftop and the carport for PV power generation. With a total installed capacity of 5.98MW, the project covers a parking area of over 80,000 square meters, providing shade and rain protection for 5,000 cars. This new power generation capacity will effectively reduce the pressure on the local power grid, provide a more stable power supply for the park, and realize the integration of parking and power generation.

The project adopts the mode of “self-generation and self-consumption, surplus power on-line”, with an average annual power generation capacity of 11,628,300 kWh, cost recovery in 9 years, and an estimated total power generation capacity of 290 million kWh over a 25-year lifecycle, with an annual carbon dioxide emission reduction of about 11,500 tons.

II. Technical Programs

1. Carport structure optimization

The distributed PV carport project is designed with lightweight steel structure and concrete foundation, the maximum span of single span is 18 meters, which takes into account the load safety and space utilization, and the module installation tilt angle is adapted to the sunshine conditions in Hunan, which improves the power generation efficiency by 12%.

In addition, 27,298 pieces of 275Wp photovoltaic modules are installed, with real-time optimization of power generation through intelligent inverters and AI monitoring system, and the system availability rate is over 99%.

2. High-efficiency equipment integration

N-type high-efficiency PV modules are selected, whose PV yield efficiency reaches 26.1%, and paired with CSR Times Electric PV inverters, the comprehensive system efficiency reaches 85.6%, which is higher than the industry average.

The PV project integrates lightning protection, fire protection and drainage systems to ensure the safety of the carport and the stability of power generation in extreme weather.

Ⅲ.Economic and Environmental Benefits

1. High-yield operation

The total investment of this PV project is about 35.88 million RMB, with an average annual electricity revenue of over 4.3 million RMB, a stable internal rate of return (IRR) of over 9%, and a static payback period of only 9 years.

The power generated by the PV plant is prioritized for use by the parking plant, and the self-reliance ratio reaches 80%, which saves more than 3 million yuan in annual energy costs for the enterprise.

2. Low carbon demonstration value

The annual equivalent reduction of standard coal consumption is about 3,570 tons, which helps BAIC Zhuzhou Base to increase the proportion of clean energy to 35%, which is in line with the goal of Hunan Province's “dual-carbon” strategy.

The photovoltaic panels on top of the carport reduce the surface temperature by 5-8℃, improve the parking environment, and indirectly reduce the energy consumption of vehicle air conditioning.

Ⅳ.Industry Promotion and Mode Innovation

1. Standardized Application

The successful implementation of the photovoltaic carport project has resulted in the formation of standardized documents such as “Photovoltaic Carport Load Design Specification” and “Concrete Sloped Roof Photovoltaic Operation and Maintenance Guidelines”, which provide technical references for similar projects in logistics parks and industrial parks.

2. Government-Enterprise Collaboration Mechanism

Due to the local government's new energy policy, relying on Zhuzhou's new energy industry policy, the project enjoys green power subsidies and tax exemptions, and the cost of kWh is reduced to RMB 0.38/kWh, which is 23% lower than the traditional electricity price. The project also cooperates with local enterprises such as Trinity Silicon Energy and China Vehicle Times to localize the whole chain of equipment supply, operation and maintenance, and drive the synergistic development of the regional photovoltaic industry.

Zhuzhou BAIC Phase II Distributed Photovoltaic Carport Project has become a new energy benchmark project for industrial support in Hunan Province through the reuse of space for “carport + PV”, high-efficiency equipment integration, and refined operation and maintenance management, and has provided a replicable model for the green transformation of heavy industrial bases across the country.
